Envision vs. Terrain

Since no one has started a thread here. I'm just going to start it first. Just wanted to know how does it compare to the Terrain? I know the Terrain does have a V6 and the Envision has the turbo 4. But I guess the size wise the Envision is a bit smaller? What are you guys' input on this?

Why even bother? Yeah it's what GMC has as an option but it's a dying product, due to be sent to the chopping block. Meanwhile we hav a new product set to be relevant for the next 7+ years, maybe more, top that with the fact its not only sold in North America.

GMC Enclave, Ford Edge, Lincoln MKC are options likely to get more interest.

I've seen that there's a new GMC Terrain to be shown at the Detroit Auto Show coming up. They've shown spy shots and what not. But, I think the Envision is comparable to the RDX or something. It's more luxury oriented and better around the same size. The Edge is another one too though. The Terrain doesn't fit in the same segment directly though.

I mean right now I do own a GMC Terrain and thinking of replacing it eventually. What I'm thinking is just either going for the Ford Edge or the Envision. Not too sure about the XC60 though as it is on the aging platform. If going for the Edge I'm still question about the reliability of the both the Ecoboost engines (2.7 and 2.0) as I have heard people having problems with it.

There were some issues with the Ecoboost engines but I think they were intercooler issues that they were having. A simple search on google should be able to pull up exactly what the problems were though. Reliability is a huge thing to factor in though as that's what's really going to cost the money. It's one thing to buy it, it's another thing to maintain it.

I'm not even sure if there's issues with the 2.0T for the GM as I know its about the same engine that we would find in CTS, ATS, Malibu, and then later on the Equinox. I did look up on some youtube videos and it doesn't seemed that there were any issues with it but who knows. I know if I do go for the Ford, I would probably look at the 3.5 NA V6 for the sake of not having any engine reliability issues. And if I do go for Buick, then I do either Premium I or II but not sure which to get.

They were dealing with connecting rod issues, and piston issues due to misfires. But I'm not too sure if they still have those problems as I'm sure they were from a year or two if not further down. They weren't issuing recalls for the connecting rod issues because they didn't have any way of tracking the bearings to know which ones exactly were bad

is it still going on? I mean I remember the ATS and CTS are the first recipient of the newer 2.0 turbo though

Not entirely sure... doubt it at this point to be honest though. To quickly jump back to the Terrain, did you see the shifter on the 18' ??

I thought it looks pretty good. I'm probably going to have a better judgement to see it in person just because it's too early to tell if the push button transmission is too gimmicky... Just because Lincoln did the same with MKZ and MKC as well as I think the MKX
