Buick Envision Rated 4.5 Stars

Road Show gave the 2017 Buick Envision 4.5 stars out of five and an overall score of 7.1 out of ten. Not bad for a crossover that’s sitting in the near premium segment, something that is neither mainstream nor luxury, but still fancier than the average crossover.

Though its “anonymous” exterior design is not the most attention grabbing, the interior cabin feel more than makes up for it. The interior materials are easy on the eyes and fingertips with comfortable leather seats that heats up quickly along with the steering wheel, a great feature for those who live in colder climates. There’s ample space for front and rear passengers unless you’re taller than 6-foot, at that point your passengers may find the rear headroom lacking.

In the tested top-trim Premium II Envision sits an 8-inch touchscreen with Buick's IntelliLink system and standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. IntelliLink is pretty much the equivalent of Cadillac's Cue and Chevrolet's MyLink.

If that’s not enough, there’s a multifunction screen in the gauge cluster that can display a small nav map or music information. There’s even an optional head-up display to bump up the amount of display screens to three.

Editor Andrew Krok found the Envision’s ride quality to be soft with suspension that was tuned to soak up bumps and make the ride more comfortable than its German or Japanese rivals. Combined with active noise cancellation, the Buick Envision is more than capable of delivering a comfortable ride for a full car.

That rating is amazing compared to how Buicks of the past and even current Buicks are viewed.

Fortunately for them this is a segment that's still emerging and some competitors are weak, the QX60 being one of them that was plagued by transmission issues.

Only real worry for them is Chrysler with their Pacifica, and I think that should be the next step with these reviews... looking at how well it ranks among the competition.

The rating is great, but definitely only goes so far. Great to read and have a general notion of what to look out for but you won't really know until you get in there and test it out yourself.

I feel like how it ranks among the competition is something that should always be included in these rating reviews and just reviews in general though. Makes for a good, transparent review and also gives people references to make in order to get a better mental feel.

well it all comes down to how a certain reviewers style, some will mention other vehicles but those are typically the more experienced ones.
ultimately comparing one vehicle to another in its segment yourself is the best way to go, sometimes you might even see things they don't.

Very true. Mostly because you'll be looking at it with the sense of buying and owning so you'll be looking for a lot more in depth than reviewers typically would. Up close and personal is the best way to ultimately know these things of course.

Yes, primarily if you know your stuff or you know enough that there are certain things you'd look out for. That being the case, feedback from journalists or professionals in the industry would be just one part of the equation. Not everyone will cover a vehicle from the same perspective yo would.

Feedback from the journalists and reviewers you would take into consideration but not with a whole lot. Unless they mention some issues that they've found, it helps to look into them a little bit just to see. It's also always good to briefly check through a series of journalist outlets and compare them to find some commonalities within
