Navigation is not the most up to date GM version.

Just purchased our first ever Buick this week (Envision Premium 11).
Very happy with the purchase decision overall, but have found one irritation.
Have an issue with the navigation information. Roads and speed limit info is at least 2 years out of date. While dealer and GM customer service tell me I have the most recent map version for my vehicle, neither can tell me the version number. That was an hour or so of frustration and call transfers to multiple GM staff.
Mine has software version 84009390, which is also in many other 2016 GM vehicles. On the GMnavdisc order site this map version has been updated by various versions (84157655 and 84201676) for 2017/2018.
Not happy that a brand new 2017 vehicle does not have the most up to date map software. Hoping that GM will do the right thing and supply 2017 map software for a 2017 vehicle.
Did find out that my 2017 was actually built in August 2016.

Use CarPlay maps instead. Apple CarPlay nav info is updated all the time, and is the simplest to use. Don't ever pay outrageous prices for GM nav updates that are at least two or three years old when they release them. Just my 2cents.

I find that most in house navigation maps aren't as up to date as what Apple or Google has and they probably never will be. That's why I usually resort to either options instead of what the cars come with.

We just use Waze. If in a pinch will use the car's nav, but seldom.

And if it's a destination I've never been to, I use Google Earth street view on home computer before departure to see what the actual approach looks like. I don't like surprises.

Unhappy Navigation System

We purchased a 2017 Premium II in Oct 2016. It took me a while to realize that the navigation system was outdated by 3 or 4 years. At first I just thought there was something wrong and it just wasn’t working correctly. After discussing with the service department I was informed that there will be an update in about a year. Well, that update is available but costs $159.99 CDN plus shipping $29.99. What I’m trying to understand and feel that it is not right is that Buick can sell a new product with an old navigation system and then want to charge us for updating it. I cannot wrap my head around that. And of course when you are buying the vehicle no one tells you, “oh, by the way, the navigation is 3or 4years old so a lot of the speed limits will be incorrect and the maps will not be correct”. If I had known that at the time, it would have definitely been a deal breaker. We owned Silverado trucks(2008, 2010, 2014) and not once did we have to update the navigation system. Just don’t get how that can be right and fair to a customer.

Had the same problem a few years ago with a VW. Got to know the salesman real well before he gave in and got me an update for free.

I recommend a serious discussion and don't take no for an answer.

Good Luck
