Rear A/C Blowing Only Hot Air?

I have a 2017 Premier II with rear a/c controls. Front a/c blowing good and cold, rear blowing only hot air, regardless of rear temp setting. Tried it with Sync on, and no change for rear a/c. Am I missing something, or is a visit to the dealer in my near future?

Definitely go to the dealer. Dealing with HVAC on a vehicle can certainly be a pain and especially these days with all the wiring and all of that, it's not worth going in there as you could potentially mess something up and they won't cover that at all.

Yes, sync light would come on. Took it to dealer and they had to order part called rear evap. Will report back after new part comes in and it is fixed.

At least it wasn't a leak of what they fill it with. I heard those leaks can take some time to repair and money too, but being under warranty you don't have to worry as much. But as warranty dries up we should monitor this stuff.

I was on a very active Caliber forum when I bought one the first year of production. This post is the reason to join these forums, share the good and the bad so we can all be aware of what to watch for and look for re-calls. Thank you for sharing!

Update on my experience with repair for rear AC blowing hot air. Dealer diagnosed problem as requiring replacement of "rear evap". Part was ordered prior to asking me to bring in vehicle-a good thing, since it took over two weeks to get part. They called saying part was in, and I took vehicle in 7/19/17 and was told it would require several days, since the entire dash has to be removed. Two days later I get a call saying the new part came in damaged (they didn't think to inspect new part before asking me bring in vehicle) but they had already started tearing out the dash, and they thought it would be longer than two weeks to get a new part and finish the job. So I'm waiting. They did put me in a loaner when I took it in (ironically another Envision the same color as mine), so I'm not too patiently waiting. Now I am concerned that if the repair is as invasive as they say, what other problems will crop up as a result of the repair? More later...

Just picked up the car from dealer. Rear AC seems to be working. Turns out they had to take out dash, and remove both front doors to access and replace what they were calling "rear evap", which was actually a blend door for those of you who, like me, have actually replaced a blend door actuator on older vehicles, like my old suburban. Of course the suburban had a lot more room to do the replacement while lying under the dash, LOL. In the process, the Envision lost saved settings for seats, mirrors, etc. so busy putting those back as well as media and radio settings. Haven't tried carplay yet, so don't know if that was affected. Remains to be seen (heard?) whether new rattles will be forthcoming. Noticed a small blemish on the driver side door card, near the hinge, but if that's the only downside I'll live with it, as long as wifey doesn't see it. Fit and operation of doors seem good. I will continue testing and report back later.

From start to finish, it looks like the dealer took around 1 month to fix your problem. If something else crops up, maybe they'll throw in some free car washes or other perks for your inconvenience.
