HOT feature in your Envision

With the colder weather coming on here in central Illinois, I noticed that when I was out in my 17 Envision Essence, that the heated seats would come on without me purposefully turning them on. According to page 151 of my 17 Owners manual, in the "Vehicle Personalization" section, there is the ability "to enable the heated seats to turn on after pressing ENGINE START/STOP when is is cold outside." You can select either on or off for this feature. I'm not sure what temperature is required for this to happen, it's not mentioned in the owners manual. At first I thought something was wrong, I was constantly shutting off the heated seats, but now that it is colder, it is quite nice, even to the point I sometimes don't use the heat. I believe it works for the rear seats at the same time. This feature requires that you have heated seats at a minimum. (For those who think I'm slow to find my cars features, I just bought my NEW 17 Envision Essence this past August)

Like this feature

Started happening on my 2018 as I had read the manual and it warned me this would happen. Works very well. Even turns down the heat to the lowest setting after the seat warms up. Great when parked outside at a hotel on Long Island this weekend.

I've been pretty disappointed with the heating time of these seats. Quite often I'm to my destination 10-15 minutes away from home before the heat is even close to being effective. Meanwhile, I'll ride in other cars that are not Buicks and the seats heat up rapidly. Also, I wish there was a way for the heated seat feature to work with remote start. No luck with that yet.

On the other hand, the heated steering wheel feature is awesome! First vehicle I've had with this feature and the wheel heats up nicely within 30-60 seconds.

For 2019 the heated seat is supposed to heat quicker. I have to turn the heated steering off sometimes. 🙂

I brought my Envision in for an oil change and at the same time, they were going to check the vehicle for the wobbling issue. Mike wanted to keep the car for the full day and gave me a loaner, a '19 Envision with the 2.5L engine and cloth interior. Yes, my experience for the day is the seats on the '19 heat faster and are warmer than the ones in my '18. I was further surprised the '19 rode better and was quieter than the '18 and attributed to the Michelins vs. the Hankook tires on my car but it may be the suspension as well since both cars have two different types. I also noted a number of small subtle changes, the turn signal sounds are more subdued and the indicators for gear selection on the console were brightened with D being a bright Green and the rest a bright Orange/Red, mine on the '18 are all yellow. I also thought that the 2.5 was perfectly adequate in moving the car around, of course, this is contrary to many of the car testing entities I have read. I did not have any issues with merging on and off or passing others on I287 which is very hilly where I live and drive adding an extra burden to the engine in climbing uphill often while trying to merge onto or pass other vehicles. So after this long dissertation, my '18 has heated seats that I am happy with that go on automatically and those who opt to get a new '19 will be pleasantly surprised that the improvements make an already super vehicle even better.

Ha! I just discovered two weeks ago that my Envision has the feature where the rear view mirrors automatically tilt downward when reversing...and I've had mine since May. Seems like that is a feature that should have automatically defaulted to being active.
