2017 Buick Envision Is Perfect For Long Hauls

Road trips can be a joy so long as the vehicle of choice is a comfortable one and the new Buick Envision fits the bill. Éric Descarries, an Auto123 contributor, certainly thinks it’s perfect for long, comfortable road trips after driving one from Montreal to New York.

Departing from Montreal, their 6 hour drive began with the crossing of the Champlain Bridge. The trip may have just begun, but they’ve already noticed just how quiet the Buick Envision’s cabin is. Combined with cruise control feature and good visibility out of the cabin, the Envision gave them ample opportunity to take in the sights. Sure, acceleration from 0-100 km/h may take around 8 seconds, but that’s enough to pass those pesky trucks.

With so many hours spent inside a small space, a pleasant environment is necessary and the Buick Envision Premium II has that in spades. Luxurious materials can be found all around the cabin and they are both pleasant to look at and touch. Heated and ventilated front seats combined with ample legroom offers impressive comfort on long trips.

Of course all road trips involves luggage and the Envision’s cargo space was more than adequate to house the bags of two people. In this case, it was the luggage of two people and a large picnic basket. If they decided to pick up a few souvenirs along the way, those rear seats can be folded down for more storage space.

Some may be critical of this Chinese-built model, but the Envision is more than capable of winning them over.

We just 7 hours each way this weekend with 3 people and the Envision packed I could barely see out the rear window all the way to the back of the driver's seat except the 40 of the 60/40 seat was up.

We saw 30 mpg at 65 mph the whole way with the 2.0T. The Adaptive Cruise along with the whole host of safety suite worked as you'd expect it.
Is it a lack of cargo space that led to the blocked rear window?
I don't doubt that the envision made for a comfortable ride, but wow seven hours is enough to make me fall asleep especially if the cabin is isolated from exterior road noise.
It wasn't a vacation. Yes, it was pretty much packed to the ceiling.

The Driver Confidence package with Adaptive cruise and vibrating safety seat works well. Especially when you are seeing 450+ miles on a tankfull.
You might want to avoid stacking that high because some cop will require that you make sure visibility is clear through all ways. Being on a road trip and finding that out miles away from home won't be fun. Better to just rent something bigger or get a hitch based box.

My view wasn't blocked.

A hitch and roof rack rails are on the agenda.

That's not bad that the 2.0T has about the same miles as the V6 terrain when filled up
I think our Terrain offered 18.5 gallon tank as opposed to 17.5 for the Envision. :)

That's what my 2012 V6 with the 3.0 have. Just wished that it wasn't rear ended and now having lots of imperfections that the body shop did.

Since 2014,GM design and build a split-shaft bushing on lower control arm,the split-shaft of bushing is made up of three parts, one is the hollow sleeve, other two is a little bolt.In history, all shaft of bushing is solid and forging materials.Because it's used split structure, rear bolt and front bolt rotates and destroy the internal of inner sleeve ,and sleeve was plastic deformation,so lower control arm falls off from sub frame .In china ,because of applied this structure,a lot of accidents shows that split-shaft is not strong and easy to be damaged,This is a serious hazard!
