I generally don't mind the engine auto shut-off features but there are a few quicks with it:

1) Whenever I slowly drive into my garage (creeping along to squeeze it in right) I find that I'm not actually stopped but go slow enough that the engine turns off - arggg.

2) I find it strange that I can be really stopped, the engine turns off, but then I move the gear selector into park, that starts it up - don't really see the requirement for that - strange.

H'mmmm.

I don't know about your first one but second is kinda regular for any vehicle with the start stop feature. It's the same even for hybrids

I absolutely hate the start/stop feature in these news cars to be honest. I find with some of them though, if you can balance just light enough on the brakes (enough to keep the car stopped, but not fully depressed) you can keep it on but it's a pita.

I honestly just really would tell people if you really dislike the stop start feature on GM vehicles then just put the shifter in manual mode then your problem is solved. The ones in my Malibu that I have doesn't shut down at all times but again that's just me living in the hotter area of the United States aka New Mexico/Arizona area

I actually never tried that out, didn't think that would change anything :O

Thanks!!
I just knew because the Malibu I have does have the stop-start and it's the 2.5 I4 so whenever I put it in manual mode then it just doesn't shut it while at stop. But again since New Mexico is getting hotter again it's not even gonna shut off at all

My guessing is if you have auto stop start while you put in manumatic mode is you would stall... but that's just my educated guess

Dealers should give us the option of shutting off things like stop/start and its probably a good idea to inquire about it while things are running smooth enough. Then if it starts acting up we know what to do. Better to be prepared especially with something so vital.

A lot of vehicles have an on/off button for the auto start/stop features but it really sucks when they don't come with one. I'm sure plugging in some fancy computer, you'd be able to but I'm not too sure.

I'm pretty sure it does. But again, stop-start feature doesn't really bother me at all as New Mexico are always hot and the stop-start feature doesn't activate it.

Lol I would prefer to be where you are as I love hot weather! Hot weather + start/stop automatically not working... sounds better and better haha

Except my area are dry and always have winds and gusts around spring time. So unless you're okay with that, you're more than welcome lol.

When approaching your garage door (before you stop) pull/ drop your shifter down into "M" manual and the Envision will stay running and won't shut off. My XT5 will act slightly differently than the Envision for the XT5 has an electronic 8 spd. tranny so when I pull up in front of my garage door (parking outside) the XT5 will of course shut off. All I need to do next is hit the Stop/Start button and my XT5 will then "automatically" be placed into "P" Park. :)

Since I am used to that great feature I find myself doing the same thing with my wife's Envision and when I do that the DIC tells me to place the transition into Park.

Whenever making a left turn in traffic and I know I won't make the light, I'll put it in "M" and creep forward a few spots rather than waste my stop/start moving a couple of places in less than waste half minute to stop gain for a full stoplight cycle.

That is certainly one way of getting around that issue. :)
