Buick’s New Air Ionizer

We’ve all probably heard of Tesla’s Bioweapon Defense Mode by now, a filtration system that’s claimed to enable passengers to survive a military grade bio attack. While Buick’s all-new air ionizer won’t save you from bio warfare, it should help improve cabin air quality and remove odors.

Featured on the new 2018 Buick Enclave, the ionizer is said to capture cabin air and filter it to remove odors and pollutants. The process is done via negatively charged particles that the ionizer produces, these particles will attract air-born contaminants and break down their structure to provide you with cleaner air.

Aside from keeping the cabin smelling fresh, the ionizer also works on reducing bacteria, viruses, dust, debris and pollen. Buick claims that the system will help improve a driver’s alertness, but that will have to be tested in the real world.

What’s even better about this system is that it requires no maintenance or filter replacement. Unfortunately, it seems like the ionizer is currently only available for the 2018 Enclave, but it may trickle down the Buick lineup and into the Envision in its future iterations.

If it does become an envision option, would you be interested?

I'm really not too picky and don't care for something like this. My windows are down constantly so all the air that comes in is naturally full of garbage lol

Yes, I would take such and option. I am really not interested in panoramic roofs or other such things but the ionizer would be great.

I'd honestly would take such options than the sunroof. In my area it would kinda suck to have one just because my area do start to get hails and it's not pretty when your sunroofs break

Which area do you live in that you get such massive destructive hail ?? :O

Southern New Mexico
Similarly destructive hail every summer here in Alberta. My local Chev dealer just installed yawning for the first time ever to protect the on-lot inventory as so many cars have been write-offs due to hail body damage in recent years. We all just roll the dice every summer that we're not the ones caught with our vehicles out when it hits.
Just had hails yesterday.... it was pretty worse
Any damages ??

I'm from Ontario and I think there was only one time where I can remember there was vehicle damaging hail.. nothing broke but just extreme dents over the trunk, hood, and roof.
It was about quarter sized in certain area of where I live if not bigger
Even in bad weather conditions you can crack a sunroof open enough to get ventilation going on. I've done that during snow storms, heavy rain and all you can imagine.

But at the same time I crack my driver/passenger window open a bit. This being a Buick you can get away having vent visors.
