my wife has had her envision premium II now for about 6 months and has done about 3K miles on it.. prior to that she tried 2 of the buick encores, the first one I called the concept car just to see what she thought.. she had gone through 3 cadillac SRX's over a period of a few years and was always wanting something smaller.. enter the encore.. she loved it, but the 100 lb german shepherd in the back didn't.. also it was a plain jane car.. enter a loaded encore 6 months later, all the things she wanted, AWD, heated wheel, sun roof and heated seats.. but no power hatch back... she struggled with the hatchback but liked the rest of it.. the shepherd hated this one as well...

then one day about 6 months later the dealer calls and they have a 2018 premium II envision with every available option.. turned back after a month and about 500 miles on the clock.. everything she wants, plus a dozen things she doesn't.. not to mention the shepherd is loving the extra room as well.. so many things in the vehicle she couldn't get her head around as to how they worked.. the auto parking, adaptive cruise control with frontal braking, lane departure steering, adaptive headlights.. what she liked was the birds eye camera and the heads up display.. other than that she wouldn't use the other items.. she also had issues with the touch type temp controls for cabin temp.. she always had issues with touch controls.. one of the main things she didn't like in the SRX's.. for me the biggest thing I didn't like in the limited amount I drove it was the air vents located below the GPS.. even with them turned upwards as high as they would go they still didn't blow where I wanted them.. other than that, I found some of the other stuff fun to play with but more along the lines of a "gimmick"

So I'm back at the dealership the other day and they'd just taken delivery of 2 new Cadillac XT4's.. the XT4 and the envision are roughly the same size.. I took it for a drive and quite liked it.. the wife drove it and she loved it.. a few options, but not over the top.. a nice clean dash with hard buttons for climate control.. an AWD that can be selected between front wheel only and AWD.. a new engine that has active fuel management although I suspect you'll only see it running on 2 cylinders going downhill.. like the envision it's premium fuel recommended.. I find the seats more comfortable in the XT4 then the envision and I like the clean and simple dash.. and then best of all they've made the auto engine off selectable..

I truly appreciate these forum's and the people that post on them.. other than this forum, I've been on the encore forum as well, plus my GMC Canyon Denali.. the most informative, and the best shared information is the forum for my wifes Mercedes Benz Sprinter RV..there's an incredible amount of technical information shared there..

just want to say thanks to everyone for sharing, and wish everyone the best.. enjoy your envision.. hopefully the XT4 has a good forum group as well.. I suspect it will be pretty limited for a while as the vehicle was just released..

Envision 2019 Auto Stop Start

(#IWorkForGM IT) I own a 2017 envision, but recently had a chance to drive Envision 2019 and noticed a few positive and negative changes. I guess mostly positive except the dash gauges that have been downgraded look-wise significantly. The nice digital screen previous models have is gone and it's been replaced with what other Chevy and trucks use (a smaller UI) + old looking gauges. But what I meant to add here is that part of the positive changes is that the auto stop function has a button that you can use to switch it off.
I should also confess that I was so worried about this feature before getting my car but it works pretty good, if I have access to turn it off I'll only do it in situations where I know in a second after that car needs to start again, so I can avoid unnecessary stop/start, other than that it works seamlessly.

Was this the premiumII you looked at. I have a 2017 and you had to go to the Premium II to get the better instrument cluster. If you cannot get the upgraded cluster on the premII then this a deal breaker for me as I was going to get a 2020 model

That $17,000 Encore is very enticing but I'd miss 2.0T power, torque vectoring AWD, heads up display, and vented seats that the Encore doesn't offer.

Even the TourX is missing some options but that $25,000 price has peaked my interest.
