Remote start issues

It seems the remote start with the key fob is hit or miss. We replaced the battery but car starts about 50% of the time. The car is in the driveway less than 20 feet away. Also, is there a way to change the heat power? Everything is set to high but when the car is started remotely, the heat is on very low. It also does this when stopped at a red light.
