Comparing all the Yank Tanks made in 1971 and later to 2018, I figure my 2016 Buick Envision can safely tow 6000 pounds with 575 pound tongue weight. I do speculate that the rear axle can take 375 pounds in the rear and 200 pounds up on the front axle so it's 575 pounds. Front end will remain soft, but I can beef up the rear. Keep most of the weight on the rear axle. The 1973 Buick Century wagon can tow 6000 pounds with Buick small block V-8 and Rochester Quadra Jet and it makes slightly more torque at 270 pound feet of torque on a 3.42 axle. My 2016 Buick Envision has a 3.16 axle ratio, but has slightly less torque at 260 pound feet of torque. The 1973 Buick Century wagon with heavy duty suspension can tow 6000 pounds with a heavier 750 pound tongue weight with 375 pounds rear axle and 375 pounds front axle. I figure, my 2016 Buick Envision can tow the same amount with reduced tongue weight of 575 pounds instead of 750 pounds. Anyone tried to tow 2400 pound or 6000 pound trailers with their 2016 Buick Envision yet? I think it can tow that much and in today's society, they really underrate vehicles for towing since the 1990s. However, it is true the new 2018 Buick Enclave can tow better at 5000 pounds with 500 pound tongue weight. I speculate that the Opel 4 cylinder turbo can compete with Cadillac V-6 at towing 5000 pounds or more. Required equipment is spring assisted shocks as an off the books bonus, plus the standard electric trailer brake box, and weight distribution hitch with sway control with those spring box bars with built in sway control. Trailer brakes required beyond 1000 pounds, as factory requirement. I bend the rules reading history and current specs.
